News Rush: Pickle Joe and Brigitte, Bewitched Swords, and a Shattered Twitch Record

Rapid Fire News

First up, an insane evening of Fortnite has drawn the attention of the mainstream media. Twitch’s #1 streamer, Ninja, well known for his Fortnite streams was joined late Wednesday night by an unexpected guest: Drake. Yes, that Drake. The stream quickly rocketed to record-breaking viewership counts as the duo racked up kills and Victory Royales. At its peak, the stream was reaching over 635,000 viewers concurrently. Throughout the night when were joined by other celebrities such as fellow rapper Travis Scott and Pittsburgh Steelers’ star wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster. This is a historic moment for Twitch, Ninja, Epic, and everyone else involved along with gaming as whole and serves to solidify Fortnite’s status as a global phenomenon. Missed it? In other Fortnite news, the next limited time mode, Blitz, is starting on March 19th! The storm begins to close in immediately and storm times are significantly shorter. This is offset by an incread in health, armor, and loot availability. For more details, check out the official patch notes.

Bungie has announced another Faction Rally in their weekly address. New Monarchy has officially made the threepeat a thing. Dead Orbit is looking for their return to glory. And the poor souls at Future War Cult are frothing at the mouth to get their first win in the rallies. There are new weapons available, as usual. The Future War Cult is bringing a snazzy new sniper rifle, Dead Orbit is offering an edgier new sniper rifle, and New Monarchy has an explosive grenade launcher. The Rally begins March 20th at 10am PDT/5pm GMT. (OWL’S NOTE: FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY, PICK FUTURE WAR CULT SO THE SPARKLE QUEEN DOESN’T RAGE ON EVERYONE!)

Are you ready to rumble? Overwatch has finally announced the release date for Brigitte! The brand new tank-esque Support brawler is set to hit all platforms on March 20th. Want to see what she’s all about? Then check out our lovingly crafted overview below!

Sombra adjustments should also be included in Overwatch’s next patch according to a forum post by developer Geoff Goodman. Sombra’s Hack will now go on a two second cooldown if interrupted by damage and will also check more diligently for fail conditions such as line of sight.

Monster Hunter: World has announced their first major title update along with the arrival of the fearsome Deviljho! This massive update is free for all players and adds new Deviljho weapons and armor, weapon balance adjustments, the ability to almost completely overhaul your Hunter’s appearance (one time only), anti-griefing measures, and more. There’s also a new event on the way: the Spring Blossom Fest! Pickle Joe Deviljho and the title update drop on March 22nd while the festival will begin on April 5th. For more information on the title update, head over the to Capcom Unity Blog.

The next global event for The Division, Strike, has begun and runs until March 19th. To quote the official site: “In Strike, the third Global Event for The Division, face explosive enemies that will force you to re-think and adapt your strategies. Activate extra modifiers for even more challenge and earn unique rewards!” There is a global modifier, team modifier, and activity modifier active all weekend, and exclusive rewards to earn. Everyone’s favorite Witcher is making his fighting game debut in Soul Calibur VI! Geralt of Rivia is the first new fighter revealed for the storied franchise’s next entry. How exactly he plays is yet to be seen, but the hype is absolutely real for next entry in the highest-rated fighting game franchise in Metacritic history!

Square Enix has announced the next entry in the Tomb Raider franchise. Teased back in December of last year with a cryptic message from Square, Shadow of the Tomb Raider is set to be released on September 14th of this year, with an official reveal event scheduled for April 27th. For now, the details are hidden in the shadows but we’ll keep you updated as more information comes to light.

This Week In Patch News

Fortnite has released the much hyped Version 3.3 update for their smash hit game. Included in this update is the new remote explosive weapon, similar to sticky bombs in GTA V. And in what can only be described as a decision inspired by smoking some good shit (or as our very own Vyxea puts it, damp memes), Supply Llamas have arrived in Fortnite Battle Royale! Similar to supply drops, get all your weapons and shit from a fucking stuffed llama that falls from the sky. There’s also a new questline being added to Save the World mode as well as a few tweaks and fixes to the game. For full details, head on over to the official patch notes.

Burnout Paradise Remastered is out now! Take to the streets and race away in Paradise City with your friends!

Assassin’s Creed Rogue Remastered is out on March 20th. Following on the success of Origins, the previously PS3/360 exclusive counterpart to the much maligned Assassin’s Creed Unity is finally coming to next gen consoles.
