The fastest operator that Rainbow Six has to offer, Ash is a formidable attacker who can easily clear rooms with her unmatched speed and stun grenades. Her Breaching Rounds can be used to breach any soft wall, hatch, or floor from a safe distance and aren’t affected by Mute’s Signal Disruptors, so they can be used with relative impunity. The Breaching Rounds can also be used to destroy annoyances such as barbed wire, deployable shields, and Castle’s Bulletproof Reinforcements. Both of her firearms and side arms are viable options which makes her a well-rounded operator for short to mid-range engagements.

An important choice for any attacking team, Thermite fits the hard breacher role with his Exo-Thermic Charges which are able to easily breach both soft and reinforced walls and hatches; allowing him to open up routes to the objective that other operators simply can’t. Additionally, his trusty Claymore can be used to protect himself while he’s using his charges. He pairs well with Thatcher as his EMP Grenades can take out Bandit’s Batteries and Mute’s Signal Disruptors which are both significant threats. With the option of either an assault rifle or shotgun, Thermite can quickly adapt to both short and long range combat.

Castle is an excellent pick for any defending team. He can control enemy movement and protect his team by strategically placing his bulletproof Armor Panels in high traffic doors and windows. However, his Panels can be destroyed by breaching charges, Ash’s Breaching Rounds, and Sledge’s Hammer. Castle works well with Mute, who can effectively counter breach charges with his Signal Disruptors. With a choice between a shotgun and a submachine gun, Castle is great at short to mid range engagements.

Pulse is a powerful defense operator with the ability to see the enemies before they see him. His Cardiac Sensor allows him to see enemies within his proximity, which is especially effect when he’s a floor beneath his quarry as he can use his Nitro Cell to blow them up from below. With the option to switch between a shotgun and a submachine gun, Pulse is strong at short to mid range battles and he can be a cornerstone in any strong defense.
