News Rush: Target Confirms Spyro Remaster and FWC Better Win the Faction Rally

Hey everyone, it’s your favorite retrospective owl Screaming Rowlet and the reigning sparkle queen ShiinaBat, bringing you this week’s news roundup from the world of gaming! Think you missed something important in the last few days or just want a refresher? This is where you’ll get it. There’s a lot to cover this week, so let’s get right into it.

Rapid Fire News

Charging straight into the news today with Overwatch and Brigitte, who’s finally live on all platforms! This time around, however, there’s some changes to where you can use her. Blizzard has announced that starting with Brigitte (and by extension the previously released Blizzard World map), all new heroes and maps will be unavailable for competitive play until the season after they debut. This means Brigitte won’t be able to see any competitive action until Season 10. No more weird mid-season meta changes!

The latest expansion to The Elder Scrolls Online universe has been revealed. Players will return to the Summerset Isles this summer when the DLC releases! All information about this expansion can be found in the reveal stream above, but apparently jewelry crafting is a thing and that’s made our very own Vyxea a very happy ESO player. So there’s that! ESO expansions can be bought separately, in game with crowns in the crown store, or received for free with an ESO Plus subscription.

As a reminder, Faction Rally has gone live in Destiny 2. If you value peace and prosperity in the world and our server, you’ll join the Future War Cult. If you want the wrath of the Sparkle Queen on your head, pick someone else. The Rally runs until March 27th!

Fortnite Battle Royale has added a brand new shotgun to the game, the legendary Heavy Shotgun…because let’s just add another shotgun instead of fixing the bullshit damage range on the TAC! But seriously, this thing looks cool and packs a punch. So be sure to try it out! Additionally, Blitz mode will be going on for a little while longer, so jump back into the storm and experience the faster paced, resource filled limited time mode.

SPYRO SEEMINGLY CONFIRMED! Target has accidentally confirmed the existence of the Spyro The Dragon remastered trilogy as a late 2018 release! In a now deleted tweet, the company stated that the only information they know is that they expect the Spyro Treasure Trilogy to be released in late 2018. Check out the screenshot to witness this AMAZING news for yourself!

In more rumor news though, Eurogamer reports that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is being remastered… without the multiplayer mode. That’s right, the franchise synonymous with multplayer is (supposedly) launching a remastered game without the multiplayer. The story campaign is all fine and great, but this is a dumb move on the part of Activision and/or whatever developer they put in charge of this project. No Russian? More like No Thanks Activision.

The annual Game Developers Conference ends today and everyone can breathe easy knowing that The Legend of Zelda: Breathe of the Wild has continued its dominance with yet another Game of the Year award. If awards aren’t your thing, then you can check out one of the many informative panels on which are sure to pop up on YouTube. For full details on GDC and everything that’s happened, head on over to the official website.

Betas and Free Shit

Beta sign ups for two of the newest Ubisoft games have opened up. If you like driving fast cars, join up on The Crew 2 beta, or if you’d prefer the high seas and singing “YO HO HO, A PIRATE’S LIFE FOR ME~!”, then join the Skulls & Bones beta. Both sign ups require an Ubisoft account to participate, so be sure to have one if you want in.

Have you been wanting to try out The Elder Scrolls Online but have had no way of doing so? Introducing another free play weekend! In celebration of the newly announced Summerset Isles DLC, Zenimax has launched a free play period that lasts until March 27th! Any progress made in game will carry over into the full title if you choose to buy it. And all new ESO accounts will be granted 500 crowns to spend in the game’s crown store! So you have nothing to lose, head into Tamriel!

The Overwatch League continues to reward its viewers for tuning in and cheering on their favorite teams! Viewers have cheered a collective 40 million bits and have unlocked an exclusive Tracer skin for their enthusiasm. In order to claim it, you must daisy-chain your accounts together by connecting your Twitch and PSN accounts to your Blizzard account. There is also an exclusive Junkrat skin available from the previous goal and an exclusive Widowmaker skin will be unlocked at 45 million bits. Be sure to keep watching the OWL to unlock more rewards such as free league tokens!

The Yakuza 6: The Song of Life demo has relaunched and is available for play again now that Sega’s cleared up that whole releasing the entire game for free incident. Remember, any progress made in the demo will carry over to the full game when it releases on April 17th!

This Week in Patch Notes

Overwatch has released its newest patch, with the biggest change being the addition of Brigitte! Sombra also received a slight nerf, Mercy’s Toast victory pose was altered, and a few quality of life changes have been added along with a plethora of bug fixes. Check out the full patch notes on the official website.

The title update for Monster Hunter: World has arrived, complete with the much-anticipated Deviljho! He brings along new weapon and armor sets, as well as: weapon adjustments, anti-griefing measures, and more. Be sure you download your free, one-time-use character edit voucher as well!
