Hola, salut, and hello to you! Welcome to Week 16 of News Rush, presented to you by myself (Tom), and edited by the illustrious ShiinaBat. E3 is well underway and this year PlayStation, EA, Nintendo, Square Enix, and many more open their doors to the most attractive gaming propositions that they can offer. If you’re interested in watching the shows yourself then here’s a link to the scheduled livestreams, but if you can’t make the party then don’t fret! We will be summarising each presentation in full after the event. We’ve still got plenty of content to cover this week though, so without further ado let’s dive into our initial segment: Rapid Fire News!
Rapid Fire News
Opening this week in explosive fashion, Nuketown is confirmed to be making a comeback in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4! This will not come as a surprise to long-time fans of Treyarch’s Call of Duty flavour, as Nuketown has made an appearance in every game the developer has produced. What will come as more of a shock, however, is that other maps from Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 and 2 will be returning! Black Ops 1 experiences that players will enjoy once again include sniper’s haven Jungle, snowy skirmishes in Summit, and the fierce firefights of Firing range. Slums from Black Ops 2 will also be making an unexpected re-appearance. All maps will be completely remastered, with Treyarch promising exciting new gameplay caveats to each of them! Dust off those AK-74Us and AN-94s soldiers, because we’re definitely going to be needing them!

NotE, Mangachu, Agilities, Surefour, and xQc have all been invited to join Overwatch Team Canada! Let us know what you think of this undoubtably strong line-up in the comments section below. Do you think they have what it takes to be victorious?
In server news, our very own Video Team have been hard at work putting together another gaming highlights video! You may well see it in a future episode.
The advent of Year 2 for Destiny 2 is drawing closer, and with it many new updates have found their way to the development roadmap! The biggest piece of news that Bungie have revealed this week is of course the Forsaken DLC, coming to PlayStation on September 4th. It’s set to feature an all new story revolving around the Reef and Prison of Elders, with more set to be revealed at E3. However, the big question for Destiny fans is surely: “Will this be the shot of adrenaline that Destiny 2 needs to realise its lofty potential?” It certainly has the capability of being it, with a cacophony of major changes promised! These include thus far:
- A new raid, set in the Awoken homeland: The Dreaming City
- New subclass Super abilities, including firing a Kamehameha beam, wielding a Thor-like hammer, and more
- Weapon randomization, slot overhaul (basically you can use whatever weapon you want in each slot), and mod overhaul, including armor perks
- A new PvP/PvE hybrid game mode ‘Gambit‘: two teams of 4 compete against each other to kill enemies, collect motes, and deposit them. Players can enter the opposite team’s arena to kill them and impede their progress
- Crucible changes including a new game mode and 4 new maps, new playlists and 6v6 Quickplay
- A new weapon type: BOWS!
- Vault space increased by 200 and bulk shader deletion.
You’ll also be able to purchase a new Annual Pass, which will grant access to 3 content drops over the course of Year 2. It includes weapons, armor, activities, lore, and more! This all seems like amazing progress! However this is Bungie who we’re dealing with, so I’ll be keeping my expectations in check until the reviews start surfacing. You can pre-purchase the DLC here, and check out the reveal trailer below!

Heroes of Overwatch, prepare yourselves! The microwave lady Symmetra has had her rework hit the PTR, which has brought a variety of changes to her previously somewhat linear playstyle. Firstly, her primary fire no longer locks on to targets and has a range buff, which makes her a very scary prospect indeed! Her alternate fire now explodes on contact and has a small AoE explosion, while her sentry turrets can be placed like a projectile – throw those sentry turrets! Her third ability is Teleporter: you can place one and control where the exit will be, up to 25 metres away. The most interesting part of this ability in my opinion is that new things can use the teleporter including Junkrat’s Rip-tire and D.Va’s bomb, opening up opportunities for some exciting kamikaze plays of the game! Finally, her ultimate ability is Photon Barrier, which is a 5,000 HP shield which spans the entire map. All in all, this new Symmetra scares me to death even more than her previous iteration did!
Enhance the way you play.Endorsements, Looking for Group, and other features are coming soon!📽️

Lots of hot game announcements and trailers for you guys to enjoy here! It’s time to wrap up News Rush with our final section – Patch Notes.
Rainbow Six Siege’s Year 3 Season 2.0 patch has now dropped, with plenty of changes being made to operators! The rate of fire for Glaz’s OTS-03 rifle was increased from 220RPM to 235RPM, to compensate for Operation Para Bellum’s recent changes. Also, the ability to throwback grenades has been removed, to stop idiots blowing their teams up because the feature was prone to collateral damage. Behold the full patch notes!
I believe I can fly! I believe I can touch the sky…Okay I’ll stop singing. Fortnite’s patch v4.3 content will bring Bouncer Traps which will “give you the ability to send a friend or foe soaring”! Shopping carts aside, this is absolutely one of the best things that Epic Games have enabled players to do. It’s finally here! In Overwatch’s PTR, you’ll finally be able to use an LFG (Looking for Group) feature, enabling you to select a role and build a team. You’ll also be able to specify whether you want people to be headset users or not, allowing you to predetermine your team’s communication. There’s also a brand-new endorsements feature! You’ll be able to recognise teammates for sportsmanship, being a good teammate, and many more things. Blizzard are clearly attempting to get positive players recognised, which is a great step forward for the Overwatch community. Check out the full patch notes for all the details!
