News Rush: Now Offering Guided Missile Tours Through the Rubble of Titled Towers

Hey everyone, it’s your favorite retrospective owl Screaming Rowlet and the reigning sparkle queen ShiinaBat, bringing you this week’s news roundup from the world of gaming! Think you missed something important in the last few days or just want a refresher? This is where you’ll get it. There’s a lot to cover this week, so let’s get right into it.

Ripping The Galaxy A New One: A Ratchet and Clank Retrospective

Because I don’t know how to control myself and/or my workload, let’s start yet ANOTHER retrospective so I can continue working myself to death! Ratchet & Clank, the iconic PlayStation platforming duo and the series that Insomniac moved onto for the PS2 after the successful Spyro The Dragon trilogy on the PS1 (which you can read about the first game in that trilogy here, because again, self promoting whorebag). The team decided they had done all they could with the purple dragon and wanted to do something new.

Carini’s Snow Day Survival Guide

It’s that time of year: Spring! Surely the sun is bound to come out, temperatures are bound to rise, and that last patch of snow will finally melt, right? WRONG. Spring may be here, but if you’re like me and live in the northeastern US, winter is just getting started. So what do you do when work or school proclaim those two words that make every kid jump for joy and every adult shudder at the thought of picking up a shovel? Here’s my guide to prepping for gaming on a snow day.

Sea-Salt Recollections: Part 3 – Kingdom Hearts 2

The never ending shitstorm of convoluted plots continues. Kingdom Hearts 2, “technically” the sequel to the first game but kind’ve not really, continues the story from Chain of Memories and has upgrades across the board in terms of storytelling, gameplay, and features. I can already tell you that it still holds up today, but sadly my nonexistent contract states that I have to submit a detailed retrospective instead of just writing a two sentence article and calling it a day. With new(ish) characters, new locations (mostly), and a plot that’s oh-so-fucking-mind-numbingly confusing, we’ve got a lot to get into. So, let’s do this before I change my mind and walk out.

Build ’em Up: A Guide to Team Building for Competitive Pokemon

Greetings readers, and welcome to the team-building instalment of our competitive Pokémon battling guide. If you haven’t yet read the previous article, then why are you here? Go back and read it! In all seriousness, please consider reading the previous article “So You Want to be the Best? An Introduction to Competitive Pokémon”, because it covers the basics such as what competitive battling is, Smogon tiers, introductory Pokémon roles, and rules. You probably should learn to walk before attempting to sprint, and we are definitely going to be running a marathon here! A comparison I made in the previous article was that competitive Pokémon resembles a turn-based strategy a lot more than the A-button mashing, gym-leader pulverizing RPG that we all love,

Monkey(PF) Talks: Microtransactions

There has been a lot of talk about microtransactions over the last few months, and everyone seems to have a different view on what is and what isn’t acceptable, or even if it’s acceptable at all. This makes it a perfect topic to start Monkey Talks with. Before we get into what I think is acceptable, I would like to discuss the reason they are there, according to publishers and some gamers and devs too.
